*For all interested, there is a Google mailing list for sectionals
*Meeting with all attending sectionals, need to plan the bid presentation and a good roll call
New Business:
*On Monday, Ben sent a fairly angry letter to the brotherhood
*Ben proposed several crazy changes
*Time to mutter at Ben
*The cow part of the e-mail part was fake
*It would be helpful if Ben had a sheet that said exactly what came out of CD’s
*The last time there was a hold on CD’s, we didn’t allow the charge of big items onto CD’s
*There was debt among alumni
*Make sure that CD’s do not go negative
*Don’t allow the withdrawal of money for big ticket items such as sectionals
*Holds could be placed on accounts if not managed
*Ben can make exceptions to rules if you talk to him
*Policy:
*If cd goes negative, they get an e-mail
*After one week of not fixing it or talking to Ben:
*CD is cancelled
*Hold gets placed on the student account
*A one dollar fee per week will be given to the brother
*Discussion:
*There should be one of the measures enacted and then others
*First cancel the CD maybe
*Then fine the person
*Finally put a hold on the student account
Ben’s proposition:
*one week, cd is closed
*two weeks there will be fine
*4 weeks there will be a hold
*The e-comm. should be in the loop and decide before fining
*The treasurer should not unilaterally be responsible for fines
*If a person’s cd will go negative when money is taken out, but is positive, then should they be allowed to withdraw?
*If a brother’s CD is positive, and the cost taken out exceed the amount, then the policy would begin immediately thereafter
*Aside from membership dues anything that could make the CD negative
*motion to approve:
*6-0-3
*Motion passes
Announcements:
*Kim will write an angry letter to tootsie roll corp. about their sub-par Dots candy
*RCA open mike was a good time
*Dan shoots Ben with a nerf revolver
*The issue of chapter motivation needs to be addressed and dealt with very soon.
*This issue should be discussed in some detail at a brotherhood meeting
*Chapter Communication, Motivation problems
*Why?
*The same issue was raised last semester
*This is not the first time this has happened
*Fellowship events:
*Interests are different
*Cyclical rise and fall in chapter participation
*There has been a recent change in the participation
*A lot of very charismatic people have graduated and left a social vacuum
*As an example, there are very few people hang out in the office
*Cliques tend to form
*What to do
*Everyone needs to take ownership of the chapter
*Possible benefit for the whole chapter to have a discussion of expectations
*Possibly outside of the brotherhood meeting
*Brotherhood requirements?
*We are the only chapter in the section to not have requirements
*Often they are not fully enforced
*Setting and reaching goals
*A distinguishing factor making us more
*Letters making
*No one simple solution
*Possibly set a goal to talk to one or two people you don’t talk to normally
*Just invite brothers to random events, not just in APO
*The idea of a Denny’s run
*Keep this informal, do not make requirements
*Motion to adjourn
7-0-2
*Motion passes
Standing Policy:
*Day 0
*Treasurer determines that a cd is negative
*Contacts brother and tells the amount of debt
*Tells them via e-mail they have one week to fix it
*Day 7
*The CD is cancelled for the duration of semester.
*Day 14
*A dollar is added to their debt and weekly thereafter until the CD is non-negative.
*Day 28
*A hold will be placed on the student account until the CD is non-negative.
