Ecomm Meeting
September 6, 2004
Union
Convened at 9:10 with three sharp taps of Shaun's fist
Brothers in attendance: Shaun, Tess, Sasha, Tommy, Josh, Pat, James, Adrienne, David H., David P., Dave 2, Charlie, Adam
Officer Reports:
President:
-There will be an advisory meeting Wednesday, September 15th at 5:30 in the Patroon room (Union). Brothers are welcome to attend, and officers, please try to attend.
-Meetings this semester will focus more on service projects and events. "The Ecomm will be guiding the chapter to focus on its programs of Service, Fellowship and membership and shift the focus away from legislation until Nationals sends us the amendments for the National Convention."
SVP:
-James looked over the interest surveys and compiled a schedule listing the times brothers are available. He is collecting service report forms, so if you have them turn them in.
-The new LAF chair will be Diana Mirabello.
-Still looking for a test files chair. Contact James.
-There will be a one week deadline for service report forms.
MVP:
-Tommy presented the pledge manual, which is still in progress.
-Important dates:
10/13 - BBLB
10/23 - Section Service Project
10/25-10/29 - PRB's
10/30 - Pledge vs. Brother Challenge
11/5-11/8 - Sectionals
11/12-11/13 - Overnighter
11/28-12/04 - Brotherhood Week
12/04 - Voting and Initiations
- The September 11th service day has been changed to include only small projects. Tommy will try to find an alternative service project for that day.
FVP:
- The I-Banquet sign-up sheet is in the office. Dates are allowed as there is no ritual. Money is due by September 22nd if you are using CD.
- There will be mini golf on Friday at 6pm. There is no sign-up sheet so just show up if you want to go.
- Alyssa is the new intramurals chair and will be in charge of everything but soccer, which Tommy is handling.
(At this point in the meeting, Shaun hurts his hand banging on the table without a gavel)
Treasurer:
- The books are now up to date. BX made over $1,000.
- There is a $15 gift certificate to Staples, which will be used for pledge books/new flip book.
- The new coke-in-the-fridge chairs are David H. and Diana.
- Budget:
o FVP (party fund) $205.30
o Historian $80 (to be used for last semester's scrapbook)
o MVP $65
o President $10
o SVP $40
o Rush $145
CorrSec:
-4 people volunteered for the newsletter committee, and they will meet on Friday afternoons.
-The new PR chair will be Alyssa as long as she accepts.
-David is asking for reports on summer events
Historian:
-The new archives chair will be Brian
SAA:
-12 or 13 keys are unacounted for and he is looking into the need to/cost of recoring the office lock.
OM:
-David P. was approved as the new OM
-He is looking into the cost of a scanner for BX
-Josh offered to donate a new printer to the office.
-There will be no office hours this Friday (9/10)
-No food is allowed in the outer office, especially near the computer.
Old Business:
Alumni at rush events:
-Alumni are allowed, but if a brother has concerns about an alumni, report it to Tommy or Shaun
New Business:
Tiek is the new CSA
Tess is the new ritual chair
David P. is the new OM
Goals for the chapter:
-Service:
o 3 weekend projects a month and 3-4 during the week.
o Keep track of the brothers' hours. 1,000 hour goal for the semester. Use a thermometer chart to track progress.
-Membership:
o 10 brothers initiated this semester
-Fellowship:
o One larger pay event per month, seven smaller throughout the month.
o Even fellowship program - Make sure everyone is involved by offering games nights, dinners, more outdoor activities, movie nights, bowling.
RPI Community Service Committee:
-The committee meets once per month and APO has a representative on the committee
-The APO representative should be on the committee for a full year instead of a semester.
-Chapter appointed under the SVP, reports to the SVP.
-Will be brought to the brotherhood for approval.
Communication:
-Use the message board more: Make sure people sign up for events.
-Put "APO" in the subject line of emails so they may be filtered.
-Two emails ONLY for an event, an announcement and a reminder. Read emails carefully so all information is included.
-Feedback ideas: suggestion box or suggestion book. James will make a suggestion book, and the idea will be presented to the brotherhood at the next meeting.
Regionals 2005:
-Albany has asked EZ to join them in presenting a bid and hosting the conference.
-Bids will be presented at Nationals in Denver
-Shaun will try to get Sam from Albany to come to a brotherhood meeting to explain Albany's intentions.
-The bid will include the theme, workshop ideas, and an estimated price per person.
Announcements:
-Mini golf this Friday at 6pm
-Advisory meeting Wednesday, September 15th at 5:30 in the Patroon rm.
-Food bank Sunday at 12
