12/2/07 Brotherhood meeting

President- What happened this semester with communication

For event information-
A monthly calendar
Emails a week in advanced
Brothers heckling each other

What the brotherhood thought we did well:

The monthly calendar helped the brotherhood know what was going on ahead
of time also the online Google calendar rocked too, office calendar was
really useful too

Things we could do better:

System for repaying brothers for events could be improved

Intramurals

Actual announcing of events only took place a few days in advance even
though they were on the calendar for a while. Announce events a little
farther in advance.

Advance knowledge of the time of the event

Remembering to attach the information to emails

Responding to things to know who is going to events to make planning easier

Sign up sheets stopped happening toward the end of the semester.

When there are sign up sheets we need to use them, Specifically # of
cars coming

More phone calls instead of emails

Increased organization- message boards, updates on things more often

New ideas or other things that people would like to see done:

Possibly have an anonymous suggestion box online or in the office

Email Reduction- Condensed Emails

Reach out to associates more often

Service Program:
What was done well:

Turn out was well this semester

There was a good variety of events

Chapter knew about events in advance

The stupid proofing was done well; there really wasn’t anything that went
terribly wrong that couldn’t be fixed.

LAF was relabeled

What could have been done better:

Sometimes not enough people to help with the prep of the events

Not enough service events for the pledges to chair (large pledge class
this semester)

People showing up on time- APO time is getting worse

Test files- fixed the tags, folders, etc…

New Ideas for Service:

An ongoing service project not just short term

Service Committee

Charity Run of some sort

Something to encourage people to give us their tests

Bagged lunches to hand out in troy

A raffle for a prize for test files-one file = one ticket

Give candy for tests or soda or some kind of compensation

Big fall event of some sort- reaching out with other organizations ie
penny war etc…

Canned food drive at local schools

Adopt a Highway

Other organizations just working with us or just getting others involved
Fund raisers to do things that we want to do for service ie Waffles

Winter Fest- sculpture contest for charities

Multiple chapter events to get other chapters involved- taking initiative
to set things up, send a message to the section.

We have put up posters in the past about lost and found that tells
students where to find their things in the buildings if they lost them

Cleaning and Fixing the Approach

Putting a wreath on the approach for special holidays

Plant another APO tree

Fix the clock in the union

Fellowship Program:

The Vermonster

Pool Party

Did very well to not have events that were expensive but still a lot of fun

Ability to improvise when things don’t work out like you want them too

Iron chef rocked

Tree dinners

Apple Party ie Random get together

Things to Improve:

Communication

Intramurals- getting messages across

Improvising- not everyone can be involved in some of these events because
they didn’t know about them

More frequent diner runs

Explore more food options and locations

Brothers suggest ideas for events- communication for feedback for activities

Frisbee day

Use of the FVP budget

To be improved:

Reaching out- associates, actives, etc…

Finding a brother from each tree to help organize the tree events better

Tree shirt making event was confused and rushed

More people going to sectionals and better attitudes toward sectionals

Bonding experience within the chapter

New things that people want to see:

Tree email lists

New cubby system such as a crate system to make things less cluttered
