Gavel Policy

Rule 1
Stealing is prohibited—subject to change

Rule 2

If you get a successful gavel steal you must inform cubby within 4 hours
of the actual steal, email counts

Follow the rule stated later upon the steal

Part of the gavel doesn’t count as a steal; you must get the entire thing

No theft of others belongings to take the gavel is acceptable

Automatic steal =90% of actives at any given meeting
80% of entire brotherhood at any given meeting
In a 24 hour period only the name cubby is used

Rule 3

Illegal stealing includes 1) Physically taking away from cubby, 2) if
cubby is in the bathroom, and 3) if cubby is driving

No property damage

No personal property theft in during the process of stealing specific
keys can be stolen but not house keys or NRB keys or car keys etc…

Keep it in good spirit

Gavel Return

- must be returned immediately at next metting
- May request ransom but not money
- Must be approved by cubby (ransom)
- No breaking of any laws and no physical harm
- Ransom request 6 hours before the meeting
- Reasonable requests only

Wrench Policy

Article One – The Basics
Section I:
The Rules – Stealing the wrench can occur at any time between 8 A.M. on
8/27/07 and 24 hours before the APO Elections Meeting. The wrench cannot
be stolen if it is in physical contact with the SAA. If someone attempts
to physically separate the wrench and the SAA in any way, shape, or form,
it will not count as a steal. Only active and associate brothers of Alpha
Phi Omega, Epsilon Zeta Chapter can steal the wrench.

Section II:
The “Don’t Be A Jerk” Doctrine –Damage to the SAA’s property is
prohibited. Do not be a jerk and damage anything the SAA owns. Theft of
the SAA’s property is also prohibited. (If a steal takes place where the
SAA deems that the steal was done in a jerk manner, the steal will be
nullified).

Section III:
Ransom Requests- If a steal occurs, the brother who had the steal has
until 6 hours before the next meeting (Brotherhood or Executive
Committee, whichever comes first) to come up with an idea for the ransom
request. After that point, the steal will be nullified unless otherwise
noted by the SAA. Also, at the next meeting, the wrench must be returned
to the SAA. There are many things the SAA will do for ransom requests and
there are many things he won’t do. Each ransom request will have to be
deemed acceptable by the SAA.

Article Two – Special Steals
Section I:
The Ex-SAA Corollary – If a former SAA (currently attending classes at
RPI) steals the wrench, it counts as two steals! However, the ransom for
each request must take place at least four weeks apart! Obviously, this
means if both ransoms are to take place, the wrench must be stolen by an
Ex-SAA at least four weeks and one day before the Elections Meeting.

Section II:
The “Double Steal” Postulate –If by some divine intervention (or some
really crafty brothers), the President’s gavel is acquired and the SAA’s
wrench is legally stolen within 24 hours of one another; the respective
party has the option of requesting a cooperative ransom. This means that
the President and the SAA will “pay” the ransom together. The ransom
request must be approved by both the President and the SAA.
